Tartan Paint bring together four musicians whose paths wind through the Highlands, Islands, Ireland and beyond. Alan Kells (guitar, vocals) draws from the musical heritage of his native north west Ireland, Rachel Campbell-Hardiman (fiddle) is deeply influenced by Highland and Gaelic traditions, Rory Robson (bagpipes, whistles) is accomplished from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and Fergus Bryce (drums) adds dynamic rhythm, fresh from his success with the World Champion Inveraray and District Pipe Band. Together, they are shaping the future of contemporary folk music.

Drawing on years of ceilidhs, residencies and festival stages, Tartan Paint bring an irresistible and accessible contemporary take on dance music - grounded in local tunes, Gaelic culture, piping tradition and the lived musical life of the Highlands. Whether headlining a Belladrum stage, in a packed Inverness pub or a rural hall, the band channel the drive, craic and community spirit of a Highland ceilidh, sharing stories, tunes and a deep love of place with their audiences.

Performing over 300 times a year, Tartan Paint have cemented themselves as Scotlands most in demand ceilidh and song band, available worldwide for all events, no matter how big or small!

Firmly grounded in their Highland community, Tartan Paint work closely with charities, Gaelic-led organisations and cultural groups, supporting fundraising and projects that help preserve language, identity and tradition. As well as performing full-time across Scotland, the band teach and mentor young musicians, and play a key role in keeping traditional music alive in the north.

Tartan Paint are releasing their new album this summer - a joyful celebration of Highland music made for audiences everywhere. Bringing fresh trad grooves and Gaelic-flavoured tunes and songs made for dancing and celebrating, the band are bottling the energy, warmth and communal spirit they’ve become known for on dancefloors across Scotland. Recording at The Wee Studio in the Western Isles, the album will honour the land, stories and communities that shaped the band, while showcasing the contemporary ceilidh tradition as accessible to all.
